Kathy Halliday and Mutual of Omaha Mortgage are one of the best teams you can talk with in Redding if you want to know how a reverse mortgage can offer you financial freedom – from Sacramento to Crescent City and throughout Shasta County.
Kathy has lived in Redding since 1980 and grew up on a mini-farm raising chickens, cows and a horse. It’s where she learned about dedication, finding solutions and developing the work ethic which has served her well during decades of customer service.
In 2004, Kathy began to appreciate the perfect solution to help folks gain financial independence through an HECM (Home Equity Conversion Mortgage), commonly known as a reverse mortgage.
She’s been helping seniors in need across the North State ever since, as well as training hundreds of loan officers around the country.
“It is best to look at all of your options for retirement and then start eliminating the ones that just won’t work,” Kathy says.
“But if you never learned about the reverse mortgage fully by talking with a professional, then how can you know if it will work for you or if you are missing out on a potential winner?”
Kathy focusses on today but knows that in her industry, she must always keep one eye on tomorrow.
She maintains her career in the reverse mortgage industry is for life.
“I may never retire. This career and this program are so satisfying to me as a professional that I see myself here indefinitely.”
Kathy is active in raising her two children together with her husband of 16 years.
The entire family loves music and as Kathy puts it, “At least once a week we all come together and play our instruments… we make a great little band!”
She loves to stay healthy by riding her bike and learning everything she can about nutrition.
What is a reverse mortgage?
A reverse mortgage is a loan product you may have heard of but never fully considered or understood.
If that applies to you, delay no longer because it could well be the answer to your prayers.
If you have equity in your property but are struggling for cash flow, it solves that problem by allowing you to convert that equity into cash.
It is available to seniors at least 62 years of age and offers a solution to anyone who fears that their retirement nest egg might not be big enough.
A reverse mortgage can allay fears of having to sell your property to see out your retirement.
Instead, you can continue to live in your family home – and with the funds available to enjoy it.
You can begin thinking about that vacation you had always wanted to take, put home improvements back on the agenda or simply live life the way you had always dreamed.
Funds can be made available in a number of different ways including a line of credit, monthly installments, a lump sum or a combination of all three.
As long as the terms of the loan are met, it does not require repayment until either the homeowner sells or the last surviving borrower passes away.
It’s one of the most sensible ways homeowners can put their financial struggles behind them and boost their standard of living.
House prices have risen significantly in recent times.
In the two years from July 2020, the value of properties in Redding climbed an incredible 33.4%.
And while there has been a minor correction in the last 12 months, average house prices remained at $386,789* (https://www.zillow.com/home-values/47322/redding-ca/).
There are 802 people in the Redding area who have purchased a reverse mortgage with 42 buying one in the last 12 months*.
Don’t miss the boat.
About Redding, California
Originally known as Poverty Flats during the gold rush era, Redding was named after the area’s first railroad land agent Benjamin B. Redding.
The spelling was briefly changed to “Reading” after a successful legal challenge, determined to honor Pierson B. Reading, its first permanent white settler.
But that legislation was struck down in 1880 and the town reverted to its original spelling.
The building of the Shasta Dam, which was completed in 1945, was responsible for the population of Redding doubling to around 10,000.
It exploded again in the 1970s by more than 150%, due largely to the annexation of nearby Enterprise, and now sits at around 96,000.
The lumber industry was once the driving force of Redding’s economy.
The city now focuses on tourism with Mt Shasta among the many ski resorts in winter while Redding offers water sports, fishing, mountain bike riding, hiking and numerous spectacular waterfalls during its extremely hot summers.
The Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay in the heart of the city is its most iconic landmark although it only accurately tells the time of day during summer solstice.
The bridge leads to the Turtle Bay Exploration Park which features a museum, arboretum, wildlife center and botanical gardens which are popular with tourists.
